Irene LeBlanc 19, sister of Hattie LeBlanc, testified in East Cambridge Probate Court about the Glover will hearing. The witness described being led into the house by attorney Elmore against her will, with her story contradicting Mrs. Lillian Marie Glover’s testimony.
Attorney Elmore questioned Irene to confirm a man at the gate describing a soft crush hat an unbuttoned overcoat and a pocketed hand. He summoned J T Silman to test recognition but Irene insisted she had never seen him at the gate.
New York March 18 Otto Kahn banker paid five hundred thousand dollars for Frans Hals celebrated canvas the Dutch painter and his family. The price set a record for a painting while Haarlem had once granted the artist a peat pension to keep his home warm.
Mr. Kahn outbid J Pierpont Morgan who offered between 359000 and 400000 for the renowned group painting. Other six figure bids from art lovers and galleries show demand, as Duveen Bros imported the canvas from England amid nobility efforts to keep it. The work is among the first masterpieces to enter the United States duty free under the new tariff act.

Republicans lead with 217 seats to 172 for Democrats in a House with 391 members and 2 vacancies. Regular Republicans total 188 while insurgent Republicans align with Democrats for 29 votes. Insurgent and Democratic bloc holds 201 seats, while regular Republicans hold 188, yielding a 13 vote insurgent and Democratic majority.
Washington reports rising bid to remove Uncle Joe Cannon from the speakership as insurgent Republicans and Democrats seek to strip him from the rules committee. The House, after two long days and nights in session, pauses at adjournment with a 13 vote majority against him and continued opposition anticipated.
Professor H W Hilprecht reports discovery of a fragmentary cuneiform tablet from around 2100 B C. describing a flood that aligns with Genesis. The fragment was announced during a University of Pennsylvania circle at Provost Harrison’s home.
An 1899 Pennsylvania expedition recovered a clay tablet from Nippur with a Babylonian flood narrative. The fragment warns of a deluge and instructs building a great ship to save life, including beasts and birds, as the ark-like vessel is described in outline.
