Shoe Men Ready to Aid in War
Henry B Endicott executive manager of the public safety committee told 300 Greater Boston leather trades representatives that all noncooperating individuals will not help the country. The New England Shoe and Leather Association pledged support for 60,000 Massachusetts workers. Cards are being mailed to workers detailing their best fitted roles, with signing the only required cooperation. Endicott stressed national preparedness and the need for civilian unified support. He outlined subcommittee work and said the main committee will be ready for any contingency. A mass meeting of Boston lawyers is planned at the Harvard Club, with C F Weed and Edward C Hutchins to explain how lawyers can help in the current emergency.
