State Labor Board rebuked by Governor Council

The Massachusetts Governor Council delivered a sharp rebuke to the State Board of Labor and Industries over the removal of Deputy Cornelius J. Carmody of Worcester. The council urged reinstatement and questioned the board’s action while maintaining support for Meade’s appointment, amid union opposition and a drawn out feud that has split labor leaders. The board, led by Alfred W. Donovan, reportedly intends to stand firm on Carmody’s reinstatement, with action on Meade’s term still postponed.
