Twenty Five Thousand Firemen to Strike Western Railroads
Chicago March 14. At midnight tonight W S Carter president of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen announced a strike of 25 000 firemen on practically all western railroads. The decision was reached by 43 Western Federated Board members. The exact hour of the walkout would be set tomorrow and members from Chicago to the Pacific coast would be notified by telegraph when to quit.
