A scow carrying 30 laborers was struck near Jersey City this morning by a schooner and swamped. Three men drowned, three seriously injured, and three or four others reported missing. Separate items note hangings of MacGloin and Majone at 8 12 A M and a Dublin related denial by John McCafferty. John Carmody was sentenced to 15 years for robbing a broker’s clerk of 1513 dollars.
New Haven March 9 The case of James Timlin was heard in city court today after a bullet was extracted from his head yesterday and deemed not to have caused insanity Timlin claims Cowles shot him and witnesses testified today regarding the incident.
The steamer Navarre bound from Copenhagen to Leith foundered in yesterday's gale. Of 81 aboard, 16 were saved. Many emigrants, including Mannall, are en route to New York. Rescue attempts and survivor testimonies describe boats swamped and pumps useless as crew and passengers clung to rigging and debris. Survivors landed at Hull report scarce cork jackets and a captain who drank to steady nerves. Mrs. Hotz and others arrived at Hull, while Mannall, an emigrant agent, accuses the captain of cowardice and cites a large lifeboat could have saved more.
London reports move in Commons to relieve Irish distress by emigration options. Denver reports from authentic sources that in July 1879 Judge J B Bissell of Leadville won $2000 from J W Dorsey in a poker game on a train to Denver. Dorsey gave his check for the amount. The check is the one Berdell referred to as given to J B B, which was misread by me and Belford. Judge Bissell is now in New York.
In Montgomery on March 9, an assistant cashier Moses T. Ray of the Merchants and Planters' bank died by his own hand last Saturday. His death prompted an examination revealing the bank was short about $10,000. Officers had learned of trouble days before Ray’s illness and his death, when he killed himself.

A large cache of ribbons and albums found at her room, the ribbon mostly from store 556 Washington street.
A Western Union messenger was robbed as three men attacked him near the Traveller building on State street about 9 50 P M Friday. Patrolman Curley pursued the culprits through State Kilby and Deane streets to the Custom house but the men vanished in darkness after the officer fired three shots.
