Poison gas at Hotel Central leaves man near death
A man registered as George R. Brown of Melrose at Hotel Central on Green Street was found unconscious in his room yesterday after a gas jet was left on. An employee smelled gas, the room was entered, and the jet found on full. He was taken to Haymarket relief station and remained on the dangerous list with little hope of recovery. The man, about a year old, six feet ten inches tall, dark, 160 pounds, wore a blue overcoat, black coat and vest, gray trousers, and a black cloth cap.
