Santuit Loses Barges in Heavy New England Storm

The Mallory Line steamship Leona arrived from Southern ports with cotton and caught fire at 2 AM at pier no 1 East River. Fireboats towed her to the upper bay and beached near Ellis Island to fight the blaze among cotton bales.
