Market closes near day high amid Sugar dividend chatter
London stocks closed strong with gains in industrials and Jersey Central while Chicago Gas lagged on the Ogden gas ordinance. Sugar surged to 93 8, amid talk of a 2 to 3 percent dividend and possible state support. Banking, rail and bond news mixed with notes on Reading’s coal rates and Boston bond redemptions. GE faced early selling.
