Massachusetts Proposes Central Supervisor for Loan Agencies
A Massachusetts legislative committee urges creating a three year term state supervisor of loan agencies with a 2500 salary to centralize licensing. The plan would grant broad powers to regulate all lenders under 300 dollars and cap interest at 12 percent annually. The report calls for annual examinations, strict data filing, wage assignment limits, and licenses limited to one year with penalties for noncompliance.
