Temperance Parade Draws 6000 Children Through Boston Heat

The Holy Family Temperance League led about six thousand children from Catholic churches through West Newton Street to the Common in a parade marking the anniversary of Father Mathew's visit. Mayor Hibbard and officials reviewed the procession as banners, uniforms, and flags brightened the march. Six women fainted from heat but received prompt care and recovered.

Market Review and Outlook Faces Cautious Yet Upbeat Tone

The article traces a shift from heavy short covering to modest buying by large investors, noting rumors of deals, dividend changes, and potential mergers. It cites Atchison earnings, steel shipments, rising pig iron and rail orders, and a favorable crop outlook, while warning that tariff, tax, and steel-listing news could trigger swings. Overall, it suggests a cautious path with a long-term tilt toward higher values.
