Cambridge Boys Drown In City Waterways

Francis Sullivan and George Connor, Cambridge youths, drowned yesterday afternoon. Sullivan cramps while swimming in Broad Canal, Connor trapped in mud at the Charles River bottom near Boylston Street bridge and unable to disentangle himself. Connor had planned one last swim after cooling off from the heat.

Tragic drowning of Connor at Newport summer residence

Connor, 17, son of John Connor and connected to the estates of Louis Agassiz, vanished while swimming with friend Herbert Wheeler at his employer's Newport summer residence. The body was found mouth down in the river mud after fellow boys failed to locate him for some time.

Taft’s corporation tax plan presented to Senate

President Taft’s corporation tax plan was presented to the Senate by Mr. Aldrich and ordered printed as a committee amendment to the tariff bill. If schedules are done by Monday, the amendment will be held before final disposition on corporate tax and income tax plans. The measure drafted by Wickersham and Root is seen as amendment proof and will be pushed through largely under Taft’s name.
