Widening Boston Harbor Channel for Monster Steamships

The Ivernia of the Cunard line hosted a reception for company sub-agents yesterday to discuss enlarging the Boston Harbor channel to admit large steamships for freight and passenger service. The Ivernia, a well equipped transatlantic liner, recently completed its first voyage to the city and is a sister ship to the Saxonia. Visitors from across New England attended and expressed satisfaction with the vessel and the talks.

Codman Estate Joined to State Street Exchange Block

The Codman estate at Kilby and Wanenee Yace has sold on private terms to trustees of the State Street Exchange via C W Whittier & Bro. The 6000 square foot property abuts the Exchange and, with Tremont Bank’s corner purchase, secures nearly the entire block bounded by State, Congress, Exchange Place, and Kilby except for a 1600 square foot plot on Congress Street.

Meantime Norumbega Park and Point of Pines host high quality vaudeville and summer concerts.
