Anti Imperialist Convention Planned for August in the West

A meeting of the American Anti-Imperialist League executive committee in New York decided to call a national convention of anti imperialists in a mid western city around August 1. Invitations will go to prominent anti imperialists and allied organizations to form a unified campaign stance for the upcoming political contest. The convention may name a presidential candidate or support Bryan, though no decision is final.

Pekin Siege Forces Ordered from Pekin Within Twenty Four Hours

Reports state heavy losses with sick and wounded among command ministers at Pekin as the first relief force arrives. Units reached position but all legations were ordered to quit Pekin within twenty four hours.

Seymour and Force Saved by Relief Fleet

Admiral Seymour was rescued by the relief force from Tien Tsin after a near overwhelm, suffering heavy losses but saved by the fleet.

Pekin ministers with Seymour leave Pekin area

Washington dispatch from Pekin reports the Pekin relief expedition with Admiral Seymour advancing eight miles from Tianjin as ministers and the force of 430 marines reach safety. The note says the first marine force began June 1 to guard the legations and is now with Seymour's expedition.

Legations Asked to Leave Pekin Telegraph

Near London June 27 The foreign office released a telegram from W R Carlos British consul at Tien Tsin via Chefoo reporting Sir Robert Hart Pekin note June 19 requesting foreign legations to depart Pekin within 24 hours. The move signals passports and risk of war.
