German Officers Shot Men as Ships Sunk at Scapa Flow
In Thurso Scotland on June 23, Lt. Nuttall of the Alouette said German sailors, ordered to close sea cocks, were fired on by their officers after returning to the vessels. Several Germans died and the ships were kept afloat after others closed the cocks. The Emden and Baden were affected. the German admiral was arrested amid suspicions the act was a ruse.
