Fire roars through Lynn lumber yard and tenements

In Lynn on June 23 a blaze gutted the B. Brett lumber yard and damaged the George W. Belonga shoe factory. Some 200 girl workers barely escaped as the fire spread to seven River street tenements, destroying two and forcing hundreds of foreigners from their homes. Damage exceeds $75,000. Three men E. T. Brett Fred Boyer and Augert Rolin escaped by leaping through flames and were burned.

Dozen Woburn Women Injured in Streetcar Collision

A dozen young women were seriously hurt when a Boston and Northern Street Railway special car carrying Wakefield factory workers to Stoneham and Woburn collided with a following Wakefield Stoneham car near Main and Lindenwood in Farm Hill Stoneham. Passengers escaped through windows and many fainted. several women listed with cuts bruises shocks and other injuries include Bridget McSeeley Mary Flaharety Mary Foley Lillian Gorman Lottie Doucette Agnes White Anna Mullanan and Mary Mulranan. May Cogan and others also sustained head back or shoulder injuries. The crash occurred around the cars had stopped to let a passenger alight and the impact occurred as the following car struck the stationary special.

Fire drives families from five story tenement in West End

Fire tore through the five story block at 37 and 39 Garden Street West End shortly before midnight last night. Several sleeping women and children were overcome by smoke and were carried to the street by firemen and policemen as members of about half a dozen families fled the flames.
