New Yacht All Rigged for Trial at Bristol Harbor

Bristol June 23. The new yacht Columbia is ready for her trial race against Defender off Point Judith tomorrow weather permitting. Iselin Leeds and Kane arrived tonight and will not return ashore. Defender sailed from Newport this afternoon to observe progress and may join the start after noon. The Herreshoffs hold nominal control of Defender until performance is shown and yachting residents await the race as preparations proceed.

Walcott Wins 20 Round Bout Over Creedon at New Broadway

Joe Walcott defeats Dan Creedon after twenty hard rounds under Marquis of Queensberry rules at the New Broadway Athletic Club. Betting favored Walcott at over two to one as Creedon, in better shape than in April, fights a strong defense and rallies in spots but loses on points. At Nashua Driving Park on June 23 officials suspended Ames Barney's owner James McGregor and driver for one year from all National Association tracks for questionable driving. McGregor was replaced by Walker after the third heat as Baby Strathmore led. Walker earned $7 for driving Barney.
