Harry N. Atwood, the Lynn aviator, completed a 75 mile journey from Waltham to Concord NH despite perilous weather. He landed at Lowell Nashua and Manchester NH and was shadowed by Boston newspaper reporters at each stop. Thomas A Luke of the Post rode with him on the first leg as both narrowly escaped death multiple times.

Mrs Eva Sandler of Roxbury dangled 50 feet above the ground as the veranda floor gave way. A human chain formed by Bertha Cohen Edward Kaiser Lillian Greuther and Eva Sandler pulled her through a window to safety. The incident also dragged Mrs Sandler and her 14 year old son Samuel to safety while a heavy ice chest crashed below.

Mrs Lea's condition had grown alarming after an operation. Senator Lea volunteered to donate blood for a transfusion that doctors first feared would fail. The procedure lasted about an hour and a half and revived her enough to delay danger while leaving him weak.

$200 000 Gift to Foster American Art at Met Museum

George A. Hearn announced a $200,000 gift to encourage painting in the United States. The Metropolitan Museum of Art accepts the donation, naming the Arthur Hoppock Hearn fund to support purchases of American works. Train Derails Near Plymouth on White Mountain Line

A Canadian Pacific express from Montreal to Boston derailed on a straight run near Plymouth New Hampshire at 50 mph. Six cars left the rails and buried wheels in sand while passengers were shaken but no serious injuries were reported.

Wreck Tangles White Mountain Rail Line After Heavy Tip

A heavy Boston and Maine train tipped rover at a dangerous angle with several cars sliding but none overturning. Passengers escaped with little trouble as repairs begin on the White Mountain division between Concord and Woodsville, requiring new rails and sleepers after the wreck. Engineer John Lawlor cannot explain the cause. The train, one of the heaviest locally, carried mail baggage dining and sleeping cars plus two coaches. Passengers boarded a second train and continued after a 90 minute delay. The 8:30 Boston arrival was missed due to the incident.
