Patrolman Dewar of the Somerville police halted a runaway horse owned by John Buttimer at 32 Bond Street. The horse bolted from Arlington, down Broadway and through Teele Square at about 4:30 yesterday afternoon endangering pedestrians and car riders until the officer struck the animal with his club to bring it down.
Dewar, Somerville’s only mounted officer, pursued a frightened horse after the animal bolted from Teele Square patrol box. The chase ended at Powder House square where the officer pinned the horse. The horse’s owner’s 13 year old son, William Buttimer, had taken it toward Arlington. no injuries or damage occurred to the carriage.
An electric car returning from Weymouth burst into flames near Washington and Elm streets in Quincy. About a hundred passengers, including women with children, escaped to the street as the car filled with fire. Motorman Matthew Lyons rushed to reach the fire department as flames spread from the floor to the curtains and roof.
An advertisement claims X Zalia cures rashes chafing and skin troubles with immediate itching relief and no smarting. It promises rapid stop to spreading sores and offers 50 cents a bottle at all druggists.
Four deaths by drowning were reported yesterday in New England. William Smith of Portland Maine fell from a motor boat on the Kennebec river late Saturday. John Le Favre of Wakefield drowned when a home made boat capsized on Lake Quannapowitt. Miss Jennie Farrell of Boston died after heart failure while bathing in Lake Spofford Keene New Hampshire. Three year old Joseph Ozulaz crawled through a fence and drowned in the Spickett river at Lawrence.
John D. LeFavre 32 of 1 Beacon Street Wakefield drowned when a home made dory with John Harvey East Boston capsized in a Wakefield cove on Lake Quannapowitt at 3 40 yesterday afternoon. Continued On Page 3 Second Column.

In the blaze that nearly destroyed the Boston and Nahant steamer Governor Andrew early Sunday morning two women died while saving others. Several crew members were burned though not seriously, as most passengers were asleep in berths and flames spread rapidly.

Victims include Elizabeth McNeil 41 and Harriet Kelly 30 of Roxbury. Injured include Joseph Murray Freeman Smith John Finnegan Harry Shuman Clarence Thompson Arthur Hendrickson and Thomas Anderson. Watchman James Watts raised alarm and crew evacuated as hoses were deployed.
Leonce Fuller, assistant in the New York City Corporation Counsel's office and son of Paul Fuller of Cotubert Brothers, died at Massachusetts General Hospital from injuries after being thrown from his horse at a country club meet the day before.
Surrounded by his wife and family at his bedside Fuller could not be saved after a fatal fall in the Brookline Country Club meet opening day. The accomplished jockey, linked to Lathrop Brown in a cross country stable, rode Magnella in the fifth race when his horse slipped and threw him.
Fifty aeroplanes started a European circuit race as a deadly crash era began. Captain Princeton burned alive after his motor exploded. M. Le Martin and M. Lendron perished in flames or after crashes. M. Gaubert gravely injured. M. Bille survived. others fell with varying injuries as the crowd of nearly a million watched.
Of fifty aviators in the contest three percent were civilians and twelve officers were assigned to military duty. Prizes totaling ninety four thousand dollars hung on the event as dawn broke over Vincennes.
