Harvard Class Day Festivities Open Brightly Amid War Time

Harvard prepares for 1917 class day with 18 000 to 20 000 guests in the stadium. Seniors in a government training camp receive 24 hour furloughs and return for the daytime program, while some speakers are absent. The day features chapel services, Sanders Theatre exercises, a class ode and poem, a confetti battle, songs on the Widener steps, and a midnight bath in the yard. Phi Beta Kappa day precedes the events with officers elected, honorary members named, and a procession to Sanders Theatre for the annual exercises.
