London June 18 Andrew Carnegie invited thirty persons to dinner at the Hotel Metropole to meet Mr Gladstone. The private affair included Mrs Gladstone the United States minister Mrs Lincoln Sir William Vernon Harcourt and wife Mr John Morley Consul General New and wife General Lawton and wife.
