Sailors to Lead Bunker Hill Day Parade in Charlestown

North Atlantic squadron sailors and Marines will march in Charlestown for Bunker Hill Day though Admiral Sampson will not appear. A charity plan seeks funds to transport 3000 Boston children to view the ships on the harbor visit with 2 to 5 pm sessions aboard the cruiser New York and battleships Massachusetts and Indiana.

Fly Wheel Burst At New Haven & Hartford Shop

A fly wheel shattered at 7:40 am in the main machine shop of the New York New Haven and Hartford yard at Roxbury foot of Sarsfield street. A 30 HP engine, 9 foot diameter wheel, rim 18 inches, flew apart when the governor belt slipped. Fragments blasted through the roof and walls with one piece embedding in gravel at the chute grounds. No injuries reported, near miss amid workers and paymaster crowd.

Jury Deadlock in Murdoch Mc Kenzie v Lougest Case

The jury reported a disagreement in the Superior Court over a $50 000 suit for alienation of affections. Initial division shifted from plaintiff to defendant with final votes eight to four in favor of the defendant. The case may be retried at the next term.

Two Years For Larceny In Heated Day

James H. Hutchinson was sentenced to two years in the House of Correction on larceny charges. The 6 foot 2 inch man, described with beads of sweat, faced a heated atmosphere as his influential friends intervened to place him on probation in March after Dr. Isaac S. Roberts of Phillips Street reported the offense.

Colored man jailed for two years on old probation charge

A colored man was sentenced yesterday in the Superior Criminal Court to two years imprisonment on an old charge formerly placed on probation. Investigators say he opened a safe with a penknife blade, later found part of a key in the safe lock and the other part in his pocket. He pocketed money stolen from two banks and used some of it to pay a debt to Dr. Roberts. He worked as an inside man and chore boy at lodgings on Arlington and Marlboro streets, where Miss Laura Stearns was robbed of a $500 sealskin sack. Police recovered $18 from Dr. Mansur’s desk but many articles remain missing. they believe Hutchinson can aid in locating them. He had many empty pocketbooks when arrested and gave no clear explanation of their source. The sentence references the old charge.

Many Women In The Dock At Municipal Court

In a downtown session, Emma Carey and others appeared in the Municipal Criminal Court. Carey, released recently from a home, arrived intoxicated to aid a friend and faced another drunk driving charge. A companion was released with a promise to avoid the courthouse, while another older offender received six months at the House of Correction after an alleged drunken attempt at a dime museum.

Lowell Man Convicted of Polygamy in Middlesex Court

In East Cambridge, Middlesex Superior Criminal Court Judge Bond presided. Seth McAlpine of Lowell faced polygamy charges after evidence showed marriages to Olivia Drury on Sept 8, 1889 and Mattie G. Crandall on Jan 28, 1899. Both wives testified as jurors found him guilty after twenty minutes deliberation.

Rescue at Brandywine: Spartan collides with schooner Addie Ludington

A collision off Brandywine last night sank the Camden New Jersey schooner Addie Ludington while the steamer Spartan was unharmed. Fifteen crew members were saved and landed at Lewes, Delaware. The Spartan continued to Boston after the incident.
