Complain Letter on Boston Elevated Line Change

Fritz Mchwinkel of Cambridgeport writes to the Boston Post complaining that the Boston Elevated Railway removed winter surface car service from Cambridge to South Station and summer to Rows Wharf. He urges restoration or Milk Street transfers on Hanover Street cars for inward bound passengers walking from Scollay Square to Milk Street station. He notes hardship for Cambridge factories and asks readers to voice support for restoring the accommodation. Dated June 1913.

Hold Pheeney in Girl's Death

Wilfred K. Pheeney of Malden was jailed in Cambridge on an indictment charging involvement in the death of Elizabeth M. Cummings, 13, whose March hospital death prompted an eight week inquest. Doctors ruled septic peritonitis. authorities anticipate possible arrest in the related case of Helena Anakeslee.

Graduation Held at Farm School Thompson's Island

Graduation exercises at the Farm and Trades School on Thompson's Island were held on the lawn with about 200 friends and parents. Superintendent Charles H. Bradley awarded diplomas in forging, sloyd, and literary work. Rev. F. B. Richards opened with prayer, John W. Lincoln gave the salutatory, and essays were read by Frederick W. Hall, Allen Cook, Edson Bemis, and John W. Greenwood.

Houston Me June 12 A motion for a new trial was denied by the Maine law court. W F Lyons a striking fireman on the Bangor and Aroostook railroad was committed to the county jail to serve a one year sentence for assault on a strike breaker at the April term of the Supreme Court.
