New York June 12 port health officers from New York Boston New Haven Brooklyn Baltimore and the New York state board of health adopted summer quarantine regulations to prevent cholera and other diseases. Incubation for Asiatic cholera is set at eight days with eight days of observation after exposure. Fumigation uses sulphurous acid gas two to three pounds per 1000 cubic feet. Disinfection relies on chloride of lime bichloride of mercury or dry heat to 230 F. Rags imported are to be disinfected abroad or on arrival with boiling for 30 minutes and drying or superheated steam for eight minutes to reach 912 F.
