At 2 O clock this morning Judge Henry B. Brown of the United States circuit court and his wife were awakened by a masked burglar with a revolver. Blair led with 108 votes to 37 Chandler 15 Burns 14 Marston 14 Ray 12 Rollins 8 Patterson 4, with 198 total ballots. Blair was declared the nominee and later unanimously supported. New York June 11 The Dolphin began a six hour ocean trial from East Eighth Street with Commodore Belknap and naval officials aboard. After a 42 mile leg to Barnegat light the ship returned, reportedly averaging 13.28 knots with estimates ranging from 12.3 to 19.8 knots. Naval authorities judged the performance strong and expect commissioning soon.

A man posing as Michael F. Murphy bought goods in a Washington street clothing store with a forged National Eagle bank check for 12 dollars. He carried a package addressed to a Providence recipient. Special Officer Franks traced the package to an express office in Providence, where the suspect was arrested after claiming the name Wilson. A trunk search in a Providence hotel revealed papers showing his true identity as John R. Duffy of Baltimore, Maryland, and he was brought back to the city on forgery charges.
