Commission members favor public hearings on garbage matters. Emerson offers no objection. A 10 year contract with Metropolitan Refuse Disposal Company would start around 600000 dollars the first year, plus 25000 yearly increases to cover growth, totaling about 825000 in year ten. The city now spends 54000 on New England Sanitary Product Company for garbage with contracts expiring 1912. City Refuse Utilization Company handles ashes and other refuse with an expired contract.
