Captain John C. Le Roache a noted naval veteran died yesterday at his Dorchester home aged 59 after a long war tied life including Libby and Belle Isle imprisonment. He later served in Boston street operations and led the Nav Corps and local forester orders. funeral set for Friday at St Matthew's Church.

President West Point left at 12 10 tonight on a special train to attend the centennial celebration and will return to the city Friday.

Salem Woman Shoots Self in Essex Street Home

Salem June 10 Mrs W S Burgess a 30 year old woman at 131 Essex street took her own life with a handgun in an upstairs room shortly before her husband W S Burgess a naval designer returned home. The weapon’s two chambers were discharged and the body was found near a couch. The act was attributed to poor health and the family had resided in the city briefly.

Mont Pelee eruption claims more lives near Martinique

Reports from St Thomas dated June 10 describe Mont Pelee eruption activity from June 6. Sea rose about 28 inches at Fort de France then fell. a few boat passengers between Le Precheur and Carbet near St Pierre died. The Pouyer Quertier cable ship faced dense black clouds near the lower crater as ashes and debris rained down, with ash reaching St Lucia.
