Fifty South Boston fishermen open Exchange Market at I Wharf
Fifty T wharf fishermen operating as an independent group near South Boston opened a half ton of fresh fish at the Exchange Market on the southerly side of T Wharf. In a sanitary setup with white porcelain painting and granite display table, they sold most of their stock to a long line of customers before noon. The firm, composed of fifty fishermen owning large T Wharf fleets, adheres to a rule banning fishing on Sundays and aims to offer cheap cod haddock hake and other fresh fish to rival the major pier stores, with Italian and Portuguese members vowing to revive the old days of low prices.
