Fourteen hundred of the 1500 people aboard the Dorothy Bradford of the Massachusetts Real Estate Exchange disembarked at Bay Line wharf after a daylong trip to the Cape Cod Canal. Passengers reported rough seas and seasickness and noted a propeller trouble that extended the voyage by nearly five hours.
President John J. Martin of the Real Estate Exchange was cheered for governor after a speech in a saloon. A. Washburn urged his succession, saying the gathering was the largest Boston audience for any enterprise opening. Captain Olson was praised for rescuing the steamer at the canal as a night on board seemed likely.
Massachusetts blue law remains in force as Sunday car travel is prohibited under Chapter 98% Revised Laws. Attorney Davenport sought an exemption, but opposition from the Connecticut Valley Street Railway Company halted final action in the Senate committee hearing.
