Discharged maid shoots rich doctor in San Francisco

In San Francisco on a June day Dr. C Frederick Kohl a physician and capitalist was shot and fatally wounded by Adele Verge a French maid recently employed by his wife. The shooting occurred in the Grant building corridor where Superior courts are housed as Kohl went there as a witness in Verge's suit against him and Frank A Miller a Riverside hotel manager for malicious persecution.

Tragedy Follows Suit Sparked by Quarrel at Court

Miss Verge, after a dispute with a chauffeur and discharge from Mrs. Kohl's service, shot Dr. Kohl as he left an elevator at the Superior Court. The bullet struck below the heart. doctors at Central Emergency Hospital described his condition as critical. Kohl, a wealthy San Francisco figure with club memberships, forgave the assailant.
