Wealthy hotel owner shot by two women at West Eightieth Street

W E D Stokes, owner of the Hotel Ansonia, was shot three times in an apartment shared by Ethel Conrad, 19, and Lillian Graham, 22. Police say both women aided the shooting. Stokes was found on the fourth floor landing with bullets through his leg as he clutched a revolver.
