Subway's Progress Near Public Garden Completion

The Public Garden end of the subway is advancing toward completion. Clearing work at Boylston and Charles streets will begin soon. The Subway Commission expects to move headquarters from State Street to Beacon Street, with parts of the building prepared for its offices within weeks.

Funeral for Florence McWeeney Held at Holy Redeemer

Funeral for Florence McWeeney the girl burned to death last Sunday was held at Holy Redeemer Church with a solemn high mass. Father McCarthy delivered a moving eulogy. Many mourners attended and the coffin was adorned with flowers. The girl’s father could not attend. Burial followed at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.

Headless Body Found Near Union Wharf Suspected John McLaughlin

Police identify a headless body recovered off Union wharf on Tuesday as John McLaughlin night watchman at the Brunswick on Boylston street who vanished May 8 after claiming a hotel owed him. The body is at North Grove Street Morgue. Mrs. McLaughlin is ill and unable to assist with identification.
