Boston fans praised a tense game where the Lambs outslugged Cincinnati early but endured anxious moments. Corcoran impressed with six putouts and seven assists while Beckley and Duffy stellar in fielding. Damman struggled at times but Willis conserved the win as Boston beat Cincinnati six straight in the series.

Gardiner trains behind big machines at Berkeley oval while Elkes prepares with his new tandem. Champion boxer Bob Fitzsimmons was thrown from his pet pony Adam during a ride in Bath Beach New York. He landed on his head but was only slightly hurt. A Boston official warned that a lantern law for cyclists could be proposed to curb park use and provoke accidents.
After a sudden tangle with a pony at the bathing beach Fitzsimmons was thrown and lay in the road for about half a minute. He recovered, chased the pony a half mile, then returned it to the water. Trainers found no serious injuries and he remains in top condition for his upcoming battle.
Champion Bob Fitzsimmons led an early morning session in Bath Beach New York with road work rowing and pony trots. He sparred with Jack Everhardt Yank Kenney and Dan Hickey in the afternoon and declared he will finish Jeffries quickly with no lengthy delays for pictures.
Asbury Park report from June 5 notes Jim Jeffries, at 204 pounds, states he is in peak condition and ready to fight Friday night. He trained hard with ten miles running and ten rounds of sparring, declaring the bout will not last longer than ten rounds. Manager Lindy arranged transport for the training crew to the scene. Jeff says his left will settle Fitz.
Lawyer George C. Dickson of Massachusetts Avenue exposed a secret effort by park commissioners to require lanterns for all cyclists in the Boston park system. The movement, led by the Fathers of the Measure, was almost passed without public knowledge until news leaked to a few wheelmen. Dickson is not a member of the L A W.
Manager Henry E. Ducker announces new events at Charles River Park. On June 17 an amateur paced race pits a Metropolitan Wheelmen rider, likely Jack Farnham, against an Eagle C. C. racer, probably Frank S. Ourish, with members of their clubs pacing. Ducker was in Boston Sunday to arrange details.
