Weather Forecast and Record Heat Warning

The Weather Man notes Monday and Tuesday set unusual heat records while earlier years had hotter days. Cooler weather may arrive Wednesday evening with possible easterly winds and thunder showers. Rain is needed to prevent crop damage as no good rain has fallen since March. hay crops may be ruined and rainfall since April 1 is far below normal.

John Joyce 20 of Gold street employed by the Boston and Albany railroad was overcome by gunstroke in the yard near Lehigh street and taken to City Hospital. Harry W. Blake of Billerica fainted while boarding a train near Kneeland street and Harrison avenue and was treated at a hotel. his condition was not serious. E J Hipson of North Plymouth was overcome by heat on Washington street and admitted to Emergency Hospital. Jacob Groves 83 of 26 Cliff street Roxbury was overcome by heat in Roxbury wood yard and is listed in serious condition at City Hospital.

The Weather Man warns today may end the record heat with a cooler wave heading toward the Hub after a 92 degree high on Tuesday, slightly above Monday. Unofficial thermometers on lower streets read three to four degrees higher, while humidity explains the comfort difference.

Boy Burned At Home. Seven Year Old Patrick Sullivan Injured

Seven year old Patrick Sullivan narrowly escaped death when his shirt sleeve ignited while lighting wood in the kitchen stove at 12 Fitchburg Street Somerville. F R Thomes, a nearby carpenter, ripped the flames from the child and sustained minor burns to hands and arms. Patrick suffered severe burns to his right arm and side.

Missing Dover bank treasurer sought by Malden police

The Malden police received a telegram from Sheriff James E. Hayes of Strafford county New Hampshire asking for help locating and arresting Harry Hough treasurer of the Cocheco Savings Bank Dover New Hampshire. Inspector Greenleaf leads the search but finds no trace of Hough. A reporter visited 20 Park street Malden home of Mrs. O. E. Waite sister of Hough where Florence Waite his niece said her mother and Ralph had gone to Dover. Florence Waite did not know more about Hough and expected to see him if he came to Malden. Harry Hough Harrison a nephew was also seen and he could not answer questions.

Mrs Charles Robart of Somerville drowned her month-old girl in a bath and was found unconscious in her room after attempting suicide by inhaling ether. She had shown signs of insanity prior to the act.

Eight-Month-Old Drowned by Mother in Somerville Home

Charles E. Robart found his eight month old baby dead in a bathtub while his wife lay unconscious from ether fumes. Mrs Robart confessed to drowning the child saying she could not bear to hear it cry. She, 31, has a history of nervous illness and will likely be committed to an insane asylum.

Thieves Steal Battery From Doctor’s Rooms in Cross Street

George Foster of Corycourt Charles Town and Joseph H Williams of Lowell are charged with larceny after allegedly taking a live electric battery valued around $15 from Dr Franfaglia’s rooms at 232 Hanover Street. Police say the rooms were unguarded and the pair slipped in, passing skeleton displays before seizing the battery and fleeing toward Cross Street.
