Women shoplifters nabbed in big store raid

Inspectors Knox and Douglass arrested five women in a major shoplifting sweep. Nellie Butler, 29, of Massachusetts avenue, allegedly took about $8 in small wares. Mary and Katherine Cosgrove, 26 and 50, of 29 Camden street, had about $25 worth, with the daughter packing goods and the mother carrying a large bag. Mary Beals, 30, of Broadway extension, an assistant cashier at Jordan Marsh & Co., had about $10 in small wares. Annie Leydon, 26, of Cedar street, had a small amount and is described as a new recruit.

Two American Fishermen Rescued After Dory ordeal from Sable Island

William Clarke and William Muse, of the Gloucester schooner Patriot, were lost for two days in a dory off Quereau, forty five miles east-southeast of Sable Island. They drifted to Sable Island where locals aided them before they reached Halifax.

Plasterers' tenders struck last night after agreeing to a 44 hour week with a three hour pay cut for one year. The Master Plasterers' Association notified the deal and urged a conference, while the tender committee pressed 34 cents for 44 hours starting June. Heatwave Hits Boston as Thermometer Soars

Four Prostrations From Heat Reported in City

Four heat prostrations were recorded yesterday. George Brierly, 50, of Natick, was found near Knee and station and taken to City Hospital with non serious injuries. George LeClaire of 1064 Washington street was treated at the Emergency after collapsing at Temple place and Tremont street. Michael Haney of Terrace street, Huntington avenue near Heath street, regained consciousness at City Hospital. Michael Sylvester of 22 Winchester street Brookline fainted on a Coolidge Corner car near Copley square and was cared for at a drug store and later hotel by friends.
