Money is a shade easier with slight borrowing rate shifts among banks but demand remains weak. Market conditions are sound with foreign exchange rates low enough to draw funds from Europe. General mercantile paper quoted at 5 to 5.5 percent, miscellaneous at 6 to 6.5, collateral loans 4.5 to 5 percent, and corporation paper 4.5 to 4.3 percent though banks discount at 5 percent. Note brokers active at 4 percent and up, country banks firm at 4 to 5 percent for local paper, and balances at 4 to 4.5 percent. New York funds at par. Clearinghouse exchanges totaled 9,524.50 with balances 31,04,127. Pacific lines and marquette stocks mentioned.
