Hebrews In Convention Unanimously Elects Officers

More than 250 delegates representing 6000 members of the Independent Order of United Hebrews of America met in Minot Hall for the ninth annual convention. Grand Master Max Waldo Cohen led proceedings as officers were elected and a monthly one cent tax for a propaganda fund approved. A 15 member committee was created to try lodges with charges.

Ornithologist Ober Dies In Hackensack

Frederick Albion Ober, noted author and ornithologist, died at his Hackensack home. Born in Beverly, Massachusetts in 1849, he studied bird life across Florida, the Antilles, South America, Spain, and Africa, collecting many specimens for the Smithsonian. He led the United States bird exhibit at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair and authored numerous books.
