A hanging live wire left after a monthlong fire killed two people in Franklin today. One man grabbed the wire and was electrocuted, and a second man trying to rescue him was also electrocuted.
Joseph Longobardi aged 52 and Nicholas Potenza aged 40 collapsed as Potenza grabbed a live wire near the Fisher farm on Main street City Mills. Mrs Longobardi attempted to reach her husband while bystanders restrained her. Both men employed in a local mill. Police seek responsibility for the fatal accident.
Three people, two men and a woman, were badly injured when their carriage horses bolted in Brookline yesterday. The Crosby couple, Mr. and Mrs. William Crosby of 173 Gardner Road, and their coachman William Staples suffered injuries and were taken to Massachusetts General Hospital.
Coachman Staples dragged from the seat as two frightened horses dash toward church. The carriage overturns after hitting a curb, throwing Mr and Mrs Crosby into a corner. Staples suffers head and body injuries possibly internal. the Crosbys have facial and bodily cuts. Horses run into bushes near Brookline avenue. bystanders narrowly avoid harm.
Paris July 31 The Matin Berlin correspondent reports the German Emperor’s anger at Von Kiderlen Waechter’s handling of affairs in his absence based on false information. Britain’s stance and France’s resolve led to a warning to Germany that any occupation in Morocco would trigger a grand settlement with England, causing panic and a push to scale back demands.
The wreck of the schooner Nokomis near Nantucket cost five crew lives with four rescued by Esther Gray's captain. Other fatalities are reported as the search continues.
British schooner Tay goes to pieces off Mount Desert as a violent arctic storm roils the coast. Rescue crews battle towering seas, with four sailors from the Arbitrator Crown reported lost at sea and others saved.

A early morning blaze in Brockton gutted the Satucket three story brick block and damaged the Holbrook four story brick building along with a two and one half story wooden lodge. Total losses reach 200000. Ammonia tanks exploded at the Brockton Public Market Company cold storage plant, wounding three firefighters and causing over 30 others to succumb to fumes.
Firemen fought a large ammonia blaze at 159 161 Main Street Satucket, with Hose 3 crews near the tanks when a blast forced many to retreat. Lt Martin McRae and three others were knocked down. 50 men overcome by fumes had to be carried out. Firefighters from Boston and nearby towns aided. no serious injuries beyond minor burns and cuts.

July 30 at 9 30 PM a crowded trolley car struck a highway construction wagon in Holliston. Two men die while Daniel Sullivan the conductor was run over by a passing car and Charles Domesick of Boston suffered a fractured skull. Ambulances from South Framingham and Milford respond with doctors in attendance.
A Milford and Uxbridge streetcar en route to South Framingham collided with a fast automobile on a shared highway. Conductor and passengers on the running boards were thrown, with several crushed. a wagon driver narrowly avoided harm and a motorman shut off his arc light to aid safety. Local Holliston physicians attended the injured.
Washington July 30 Postmaster General Hitchcock announced a plan to extend the postal savings system to ten large first class cities. Philadelphia Brooklyn Cleveland Minneapolis Milwaukee St. Paul Louisville Jersey City Wilmington Del and Long Island City will have postal savings banks in operation by September 1. The cities are major industrial and commercial centers with large foreign born populations.
Providence reports the death of Mrs Lillian C Nickerson after she boarded the Georgia of the Joy line at Providence July 20 and handed $14 to purser for safekeeping. Hat and coat found in stateroom with door locked from inside. Body found off Little Compton last Thursday. autopsy cites fractured skull and facial bruising. no water in lungs noted by undertaker. relatives suspect death occurred before entering water. Purser Hamilton says last seen at 9 pm the night she disappeared after storing valuables in stateroom 39.
