Boston Germans Snubbed in Prince Henry Visit
Autograph portraits were given across the United States with the exception of Boston where the city’s recognition was missing. Prominent Germans resent how plans for the prince’s entertainment were handled and recall that Boston Germans felt snubbed by organizers. Consul Reincke, linked to the recommendations, reportedly disagreed with the change cutting Mrs Gardner from Boston events and may have contributed to the later official Berlin view of resentment toward Boston’s treatment of Germans.
