Word from the city office says Superintendent of Streets James Donovan learned that a dozen or more Chicago Board of Aldermen on the transportation committee, now touring Eastern cities, are likely to add Boston to their itinerary after returning from New York.
Rowland Barran wins the North Leeds by election as Liberal with 7639 votes, defeating Sir Arthur Lawson Conservative who tallies 6781. The seat vacancy followed William Lawies Jackson's elevation to the peerage, shifting the balance to a Liberal majority of 758 and signaling Tory unease under Balfour.
Michael Reddon, 28 Harrison Avenue, was attacked by four Italians near Parmeter and Hanover streets between 9:30 and 10 PM. He received a severe arm wound from a razor cut to the artery after an argument over a narrow sidewalk. A toppled shop window shattered during the struggle, drawing friends who helped drive the assailants away toward North Street.

Struck on head and shoulders with a club, Miss Charlotte M Smith was felled in a field near her home. Jerome G Chase was arrested in Swansea and jailed on the assault charge. she recovered enough to notify her brother, who led to the arrest and planned arraignment tomorrow morning.

Harvard students describe threats of death from a reportedly well dressed, mentally unbalanced man seen near Memorial and Cambridge Common. In multiple anthracite regions yesterday non union workers faced violent obstruction. Large crowds at Duryea Shamokin Mt Carmel attacked workers and hurled stones while officials warned of troops if clashes continued.
