Clever Foreigner Zubof Ends Life in New York Prison
Roman I. Zubof known as a Russian count died by suicide in Jefferson Market Prison after arrest for failing to pay a $500 hotel bill and presenting a fraudulent $250 draft. He tied a silk handkerchief to cell bars, was dead on discovery, and later taken to Bellevue Hospital. He faced $500 bail and had a history of swindling in Dublin before moving to the United States.

Peter Emka a teamster of 60 Brighton street Roxbury fell from a brewer s wagon at Columbus avenue and Cottage place yesterday afternoon and suffered a fracture at the base of the skull He is at Massachusetts General Hospital in a critical condition.

Schooner Geneva Sunk on Grand Banks
The schooner Geneva of La Have Nova Scotia was run down on the Grand Banks and sent to the bottom with one crewman aboard. Captain Domkey and the rest of the crew were rescued and landed at St John’s Newfoundland. The captain had a broken leg and the drowned man was named Oxner.
