Snake bite claims four young lives in Tennessee incident

Knoxville news reports three Cooper children of Townsend killed by rattlesnakes late yesterday while an infant, placed near a stream bank by Mrs. Cooper, drowned. Funeral services for the four children were held today.

Cambridge Boy Killed In River and Auburn Street Crash

A 16 year old Cambridge boy William H Lynch Jr died after a heavy truck collided with an electric car at River and Auburn streets. The auto mobile was struck while moving fast. Lynch was thrown from the running board and suffered a fractured skull. He died at Cambridge Relief Hospital.

Acetylene Explosion Shakes Melrose Depot

A huge blast at Melrose depot yesterday morning shattered 59 windows within 200 feet as an acetylene tank on a Portland freight burst. Fire spread to another five cars, crew saved others, and debris damaged the Goss Bros. grain elevator and the Universalist church roof. No cause is known.

The United Irish League of America holds a national executive meeting in the city Sunday to map finances and strategy for the home rule bill. Officials expect to raise about 40000 dollars to secure the bill’s passage by May next year with Michael J. Lynn Drug Store Raided by Police

The drug store of Fred I. Hopkins at 289 Essex Street Lynn was raided by the liquor squad at 9 30 last night. Ten gallons of wine three gallons of whiskey twenty gallons of ale and a half pint of brandy were seized. Hopkins was arrested charged with illegally keeping and selling spirituous liquors and admitted to bail of 200. This is the third time he has been taken on the charge.

Grangers Hold Annual Field Day With Demonstrations

The Walpole Dedham Norwood and Westwood group held an illustrated lecture and field demonstrations led by Abel Stevens of Dupont Cartridge Co. A rock lifted from Albert Dean’s pasture crashed into Mrs Spokesfield’s cottage roof though no one was home. First Free Animal Dispensary Opens in Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals opens New England’s first free animal dispensary Monday at 73 Central Street in Boston. Dr. F. J. Flanagan and Dr. D. L. Bolger will supervise the free clinics until the animal hospital is completed, with work starting soon.

Change Route For South Boston Cars On Broadway Extension

Inward bound South Boston cars will divert via Broadway extension through Dorchester Avenue Dover and Washington streets while tracks are relaid between Harrison Avenue and Washington Street.
