Despondent Husband Found Dead With Throat Cut

Nicholas Brown a porter at the South station and formerly of 121 Lenox Street Roxbury was found dead yesterday afternoon by his landlord John Quinn of Charles Town with his throat cut. A note on the table read Woman the cause better off dead. Neighbors say Brown’s wife had left two years ago and he was despondent.

Fearful collision sinks schooner with no crew loss

The Dutch freighter Sloterdyk from Boston to Philadelphia collided with a two masted schooner in dense fog. The schooner vanished, leaving only wreckage and a torn bow. Crew of 42 on the Sloterdyk reported no injuries, while Captain Jacob Metz claimed no blame.

Auto Wreck injures five near West Everett street scene

An early morning crash injures five near School and Maine streets in West Everett. Alexander H. Mitchell headmaster of Mitchell Military Academy for Boys in Billerica drove into a telephone pole, snapping it and causing a short circuit that produced a fireworks display along trolley wires. Mitchell and party escaped with minor shocks after the steering gear failed.
