Blackmar Funeral Becomes Mass Veterans Outpouring
A 100 officer detail guards the State House as crowds gather to honor General Blackmar. Notables include Col. Betts, Judge Emmons, and Lt Gov Curtis Guild, with a multi-post procession to Trinity and Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Services at Church By Ticket Only for Second Church
Ticket only access restricted the Second Church service with a near full arrival half an hour before the cortege. Police from Station 16 and six officers cleared the main entrance while Honorary pallbearers and Sons of Veterans escorted the remains into the edifice. Adjutant-General John E. Gilman, Mrs. Blackmar, and Miss Brewer sat in the right front pew behind the pallbearers as Comrades of Post 113 and Department Commander Wolff and staff occupied central seats.
