In Dorval Quebec on July 24 Manchester from Manchester Massachusetts defeated Alexandra in the third Seawanhaka Cup race. The Manchester Yacht Club boat won by nine minutes 37 seconds to claim the series after eight previous challengers failed. Strong 20 knot southerly winds and heavy seas tested both yachts. The Alexandra led early but Manchester dominated windward legs and finished decisively.
