Captain Lynch's Guests Enjoy Day in the Bay

Guests of Captain Thomas Lynch of the Chelsea Yacht Club joined a large pleasure party on the Cadet for a bay outing. The trip featured visits to Long Island and Graves, lunch on board, and a return by evening. The day drew crowds to Atlantic avenue with multiple steamers and yachts in sight.

Dozen Passengers Detained From Cunard Catalonia Arrival

About 7 30 a m yesterday the Cunard liner Catalonia from Liverpool and Queenstown reached East Boston dock with twenty one saloon, twenty three second class and ninety two steerage passengers. Twelve steerage passengers lacked money and relatives addresses and were held aboard by immigration officials. The list includes Professor R L Cumnock Judge P Hadley and many others.

Harbor Whitehall Race Opens Friendly North End Rivalry

A morning race in the harbor pits Nel owned by Captain Joe Conrad against Helma skippered by Captain Chris Lund. A silver cup is on display at Martin Cannon’s on Fleet Street. Bets are placed, with the winner hosting a celebratory dinner at City Point for starters, timekeepers, and judges. The course runs from Lewis Wharf to le Island, around red buoy No 6.

The Boston and Albany begins daily arrivals and departures at the new Southern station with an 8:15 a.m. circuit train. Tracks 1 through 6 house B and A trains as crews adapt, with prior day trials proving smooth operations and plans for a large freight terminal extending to Albany Street.

Charles Robinson a 42 year old hotel clerk was found dead in bed at the Commercial House Concord. An empty bottle labelled poison was found on the table indicating self inflicted death. He had worked as a hotel clerk in New England and was visiting relatives who were away. he was unmarried.

Picnic fundraiser for St James parish in West Roxbury

The annual picnic in aid of the poor of St James parish will be held in Caledonia Grove West Roxbury on August 9. Special trains have been arranged for travel to and from the event. A grand dramatic entertainment will be presented under the management of Mr M T Callahan, and a grand list of sports is planned.

Hebrew Democratic Club Ward Holds Special Meeting

Directors of the Hebrew Democratic Club of Ward eight met at 20 Poplar Street yesterday afternoon and voted that each candidate for admission must be recommended by at least three members. Weekly meetings will be held and a committee will canvass the ward to report eligible Hebrews for citizenship. Many applications were received and acted upon at next Sunday's meeting.
