A three story wooden inn on Atlantic Hill, the Park House, was struck by lightning at 1 am and burned down. J. O. Burdett of Boston owned and occupied the property worth about 30000 dollars. Thirty guests escaped with minimal clothing as fire crews sheltered them in nearby houses.

During a severe thunder shower in South Norridgewock Maine the home of Rev B I Turner was struck by lightning. It pierced the roof tore through three rooms tearing plastering overturning chairs and shattering glassware. A horse owned by Ellis Tobey was killed in Joshua Bigelow s stable.
A woman identified as Mrs Althenanaka 1 was walking on the street when lightning struck and she was severely stunned. The incident occurred as power lines or sight wires were involved, causing injuries that required urgent attention.

The Old South Church steeple and Thomas Peters house suffered damage. A Granite Hill boarding house was struck. Telephones lines and trees also damaged.
Portland endured a day of electric storms with a morning tempest battering the city. Buildings were struck by bolts and a barn on an island burned, but no major damage reported. After brief clearing, storms returned by evening, with near continuous lightning over several hours.
A powerful thunderstorm damaged farms and disrupted utilities across East Warren Nobleboro and nearby towns. Albert Andrews's barn in East Warren burned with about twenty five tons of hay and livestock losses. Ashpoint, Warren, St George, and Tenants Harbor reported destroyed wires and dark streets as fires spread.
During a heavy thunderstorm on July 2 in Bar Harbor Maine four men were severely shocked when a rigging struck the greenhouse of G Boston. None of the men died.
