In Marine Park a well dressed man lies dead with a deep cut over the right eye. Authorities note the wound may have come from a wheel of a steamer or from a fish or assassin as possible causes. Officers search for clues and motives.
A man about 23, 5 foot 6 or 7, in a blue suit and striped trousers was found in Marine Park under the Pine street bridge. The body showed a deep cut over the right eye and a large diamond ring. police suspect foul play and the corpse was taken to City Hospital morgue for examination by Medical Examiner Draper.
A life preserver from the steamer Portland washed ashore at Nantasket on July 2. Found by a beachgoer, it was well preserved after nine months at sea, disproving rumors that Portland life preservers were straw stuffed. The buoyant gear showed cork filling and had its ends tied as when used on a body.
In Monticello New York July fire destroyed the overseer Andrew McCulloughs stock barns at Crystal Rocks. His two sons Eddie and Freddie aged 3 and 5 years were burned to death while playing near the buildings. The blaze was blamed on the boys handling matches.
William J. Carlen an 18 year old newsboy living at 10 Ball Street was struck by a team at the corner of Dudley Street and Blue Hill Avenue yesterday afternoon. He sustained serious injuries including a lacerated head and broken collarbone. He was treated at his home.
Cleveland July 2 patrols and militia guard streetcars as martial law grips the city. The strike worsens with riots and a first fatality Henry Cornzwich shot by conductor Ralph P Hawley. Hawley faces murder charges as authorities mobilize 800 additional troops.

She left home at breakfast time April 25 in a calico dress and Tam o Shanter hat and has not been seen since. Her father George B McKenzie works with the Navy Yard and the family seeks help despite their wish for privacy.
In South Royalston a unknown Pole was found hanging in a shed with cord and stone around the neck, believed to have died more than a day earlier. In Saco John Dunffrane aged four drowned in the Saco River using a cord and a stone. In North Adams Robert Darrow aged 55 drowned in the Hoosac River after attempts at self destruction years earlier, with temporary insanity noted by the medical examiner.
