Woman Dies After Torch Fire While Cleaning Bed

Mrs. Elizabeth B. Sutherland aged 55 of 9 Meridian street East Boston burned by a lighted paper torch while cleaning a bed. She rushed from the top floor to the street screaming for help and died hours later at East Boston Relief Hospital. Only the bed room was slightly damaged, clothing flames were put out by her roll on a rug and a hasty escape. She had run a lodging house at her Meridian street home for years.
