Forest Fire Threat In Medford Sparks Volunteer Effort
More than two dozen residents including women and children formed a bucket brigade to fight a forest fire in the Lawrence woods Medford burning about five acres of 155 acres. Volunteers water carried from nearby homes while a fire automobile arrived after the blaze was stamped out due to an empty gas tank. Firefighters stated they had to purchase oil to respond.
