Prominent Boston Women Attend Bourne Hiawatha Festival Fundraiser

July 16 report describes 460 member Old Colony Union women attending Bourne festival to raise funds for the Bourne rial school. About 75 Boston residents helped by hosting and supporting the two day event. George Howard directed the Hiawatha pantomime, and Mrs. Fred Root read the poem as 50 children from the school performed.

Company No. 2 of the Votes for Women army left Boston yesterday forenoon on its quest of New England under the leadership of Mrs. Susan W. FitzGerald. It met success in its sallies on every hand, reaching hearts and pocketbooks of opponents.

Suffrage Tour Promotes Votes for Women in New England

A Boston suffrage caravan with green banners and petition drives traveled from Park Square to City Hall and through Weymouth Plymouth and Providence. Speakers from the Massachusetts Equal Suffrage Association and allied groups urged action by the national Senate on the proposed amendment. The tour aimed to gather signatures for the federal suffrage measure and promote nationwide tours.

Opposition to South Lynnfield School funds

A special town meeting is called for next Wednesday evening by the selectmen to decide if the building committee may receive an additional 1400 to cover contracts that exceed the original 10000 appropriation by about 1200. Residents of Lynnfield Centre oppose the extra funds, arguing it mainly benefits South Lynnfield residents.

Revere Baby Hit by Barrel in Barnyard Accident

Eleanor Johnson aged 3 narrowly escaped death when a oil barrel rolled from a barn door at 374 Park Avenue Revere and struck her breaking her left leg. Her father Charles Johnson worked in the hay loft nearby as the incident occurred.

Captain Eleazer Baker Dead at Hyannis

Hyannis July 16 Captain Eleazer Baker 66 master mariner died today after an operation. He was the Cape's oldest master mariner with 33 years in Metropolitan Steamship Company service and last commanded the H F Dimock. He served in every vessel of the fleet and had no accidents.
